Link - 10 signs you may have OCD

Hello,

Apologies for the long absence. I am trying to reorganize the blog and will try to write more than just append links like I am going to do today. :)

Hopefully, next week onwards, I will not only be more regular but I will also write more about the day-to-day problems faced by the OCD community.

But for today, here's the link:  The Link

Cheers!

Video - Living With OCD - Elizabeth McIngvale

Hello people,

Came across a video of a gritty (and beautiful) woman called Elizabeth McIngvale who has been battling OCD since she was 12 years old. She is the founder of Peace of Mind, a non-profit organization for people with OCD. She became the national spokesperson for the International OCD Foundation at 18.

At one point doctors believed McIngvale's OCD was too severe to be treatable. Her rituals included having to repeat menial tasks 42 times, an obsession with religious symbolism, and washing her hands over 100 times a day. (Wikipedia)

Enjoy the video in which she talks about Living with OCD. Beautiful woman, beautiful video.

More strength to you!

Video - My OCD (Song) by Rhett and Link

Hello,

Here's a nice song that I came across. While it is an affront to people who actually suffer from OCD, to have people keep saying 'I'm so OCD', to justify their fastidiousness, as if it is an emotion of varying degrees, the footnote in the song (copied below) explains the intent behind the song:

NOTE: We understand that OCD is a serious mental disorder that significantly affects the lives of millions of people (including Rhett's wife). This song is not intended to make fun of people with OCD, but rather to demonstrate and poke fun at the tendency of so many people to point out things that are off-center, off-balance, etc. and say "It's driving my OCD crazy!"

Enjoy the song!

Video - The breakthrough (oceanofocd.com)

Hello,

One more cool video from the same source as yesterday - oceanofocd.com, once again with the text verbatim:

ocean originals #6: what can we do when OCD threatens to limit our freedom with its blocks and bricks of confusion and worry? do we allow OCD to box us in between fear and doubt? do we give up? at the end of the day, there's really only one thing to do: break through! it will take patience, courage and a grand leap of faith. it will be terrifying. but what great reward comes without glorious risk? and what better reward than a full, colorful life - a life free from the exhausting clock factory called obsessive-compulsive disorder?

Let's breakthrough, shall we? Can we all try?
